Directorate of Animal Husbandary


MISSION

  • Increase the livestock production such as milk, egg & meat.
  • Creation of awareness amongst livestock and poultry keepers.
  • Promote the animal husbandry as a viable subsidiary source of income of rural population by providing improved facilities of cross breeding.
  • Consolidate and strengthen the existing infrastructure facilities for livestock development in the State.
  • Promote proper management and animal health coverage.
  • Para vet training to rural unemployed educated youth.
  • Control of fatal zoonotic diseases of animals in order to make people’s life safer.
  • Strengthening/establishment of veterinary hospital at grass root level.
  • Provide occupation and employment security in the native environment.
  • Reduce/ eradicate poverty and stop migration of local people through regular source of income round the year.
  • Provide nutritional security through high protein, energy, vitamins etc.
  • Breed improvement of the Local non - descript Livestock through A.I. & natural insemination with Superior Germ plasma  
  • Distribution of 150 Bulls produced in Government farm for Natural Services among farmers.
  • Distribution of 200 Beetal Bucks for Natural Services in Goats.
  • Promote egg production; Government subsidy on feeds and others will be provided to encourage private entrepreneurs for layer farming.
  • Promote egg production in rural area; Backyard Poultry keeping will be encouraged.
  • Promote Poultry meat production; private entrepreneurs and farmers will be provided Government subsidy to establish medium as well as small broiler rearing unit.
  • Promote Pork production; small and medium breeding units will be provided to farmers on Government subsidy.
  • Promote the production of goat meat (chevon); small and medium breeding units will be provided on Government subsidy to farmers as well as helpless families.
  • Revival of Government Bacon Factory on PPP mode.
  • Strengthening of different animal farms which are running for the purpose of preservation of Germplasm:

  • Strengthening of existing Veterinary hospitals.
  • Strengthening of Institute of Animal Health & Production, Kanke, Ranchi as per GMP norms for production of different Livestock vaccines.
  • Strengthening of Referral Veterinary Hospital at Dumka and 8 (eight) Pet Clinics.
  • Strengthening of 5 (Five) disease diagnostic laboratories.
