Objectives

The Rural Development Department implements several programmes that aim at:-
   
  • Alleviating rural poverty through creation of infrastructure including rural roads.
  • Generating sustainable employment opportunities for the rural poor.
  • Providing credit & subsidies for acquiring employment generating assets for creation of self-employment to families below poverty line with the co-ordination of financial Institutions.
 
   
The Department also aims at providing shelter to the homeless poverty stricken people of the rural areas. It also caters for holistic watershed development in order to conserve natural resources.
